With his enthusiasm and versatility, Leonard Bernstein ranks among the most fascinating musical personalities of the 20th century. His love and passion belonged to music, and he worked tirelessly, day after day. “I cannot live one day without hearing music, without playing it, studying it, or thinking about it.” Drawing on interviews, reports and letters, Ulrich Noethen traces Bernstein’s life with his warm and versatile voice. Anna and Ines Walachowski bring Bernstein’s music to life at the piano: the overture from the operetta “Candide”, dances and many of the well-known songs from “West Side Story”. It is a tribute to the great musician and humanist, whose influence continues to resonate today. Ulrich Noethen is one of Germany’s leading character actors in film and television, as well as a renowned audiobook narrator. He has appeared in numerous films and television productions, including “Comedian Harmonists”, “Gripsholm”, “Downfall” and “Hannah Arendt”. Anna and Ines Walachowski have long been regarded as one of today’s leading piano duos. For more than two decades, the two sisters have delighted audiences on international concert stages and have released eleven CDs to date.
