The varied circular hike to Plattner Spitze starts in Platten near Pfalzen and is considered one of the most impressive summit tours in the southern Puster Valley. Right from the start, the trail climbs steadily through peaceful, shaded forest sections towards the extensive alpine meadows of Stockpfarrer. Step by step, magnificent views of the surrounding mountains unfold, creating a sense of alpine openness and tranquility from the very beginning.
From the alpine pasture area, the route follows the markings of the well-known Pfunderer High Trail (Pfunderer Höhenweg). The trail continues along a broad and scenic ridge towards Sambock at 2,398 m. This section is particularly captivating thanks to its spectacular panoramic views. The scenery stretches across the mountains of the Southern Alps and accompanies hikers throughout the ascent. The varied combination of alpine meadows, rocky passages and panoramic high-altitude trails gives this tour its distinctive appeal.

Higher up, the terrain becomes increasingly alpine. Rocky trail sections require sure-footedness and a head for heights, but reward hikers with an especially memorable mountain experience. Upon reaching the summit of Plattner Spitze at 2,439 m, an impressive 360-degree panorama opens up. The striking peaks of the Zillertal Alps, Ötztal Alps and Stubai Alps can be admired alongside the distinctive rock towers of the Dolomites, which are particularly spectacular on clear days. This unique view makes the tour a special experience for nature lovers and mountain enthusiasts alike.
The descent leads to the idyllic Plattner Lakes at around 2,250 m. Nestled within a peaceful alpine landscape, these mountain lakes offer a stunning natural setting and invite hikers to take a short break. During the summer months, alpine roses and a variety of mountain flowers transform the surrounding slopes into a colorful spectacle, adding even more charm to the hike.
The circular route then continues along a partly steep forest trail back to the starting point at the Tierstaller-Hof parking area, bringing this impressive mountain hike to a rewarding conclusion.

Starting from the parking area at Tierstaller Farm in Platten, follow trail no. 66 towards Stockpfarrer and Sambock. The first section leads along a wide forest track through the shaded Stockwald forest, ascending steadily with a moderate incline. Higher up, the route continues on narrower mountain trails that cross alpine meadows and open terrain.
Following the scenic ridge, the trail climbs towards Sambock at 2,396 m. The terrain alternates between grassy paths, rocky sections and stony ground. In the upper part, the route becomes more alpine and includes some exposed stretches. Sure-footedness and a head for heights are essential, especially in wet conditions or when old snowfields are present.
Beyond Sambock, the trail continues along the Pfunderer High Trail (Pfunderer Höhenweg) to Plattner Spitze at 2,439 m. The summit rewards hikers with spectacular views of the Zillertal Alps, Ötztal Alps, Stubai Alps and the striking peaks of the Dolomites.
The descent follows a circular route via the Plattner Lakes at approximately 2,250 m. This section leads along narrow mountain paths through rocky alpine terrain and across high mountain meadows. Particular caution is advised around the lakes, as some sections can be slippery when wet.
Further down, the route reaches Plattner Alm, an ideal place for a relaxing break and refreshments. From there, well-maintained alpine and forest trails lead back to the starting point at Tierstaller Farm.
Coming from Bruneck, follow the Puster Valley Road to Pfalzen and then follow the signs to Platten. Passing several farms and small hamlets, the road continues to the parking area at Tierstaller Farm, the starting point of the circular hike to Plattner Spitze.
From the Brixen/Pustertal motorway exit, follow the Puster Valley State Road to Kiens and continue to Pfalzen. From there, follow the signs to Platten.
