The ECK Museum of Art is an art museum in the heart of Brunico. It presents regional and international art, bringing its historical collection into dialogue with temporary exhibitions of modern and contemporary art. Next to the museum is the KunstGarage, an extension of its exhibition spaces. An additional exhibition venue is the Raiffeisen Galerie, located at the headquarters of Raiffeisenbank Bruneck.
The history of the museum dates back to 1995. The collection grew out of the holdings of the former “Stadtmuseum Bruneck” and has been continuously expanded ever since. It encompasses works from different periods by artists from South Tyrol, Italy and beyond, including Michael Pacher, Emil Nolde, Fortunato Depero, Paul Flora, Peter Fellin and many others. The collection also features numerous artists from the younger and contemporary South Tyrolean art scene.
A particularly distinctive part of the collection is the ex libris collection, comprising more than 15,000 prints from around the world, as well as the photographic archives left by prominent photographers from Brunico.
Today, works from the museum’s own collection are continually re-examined and brought into dialogue with contemporary artistic positions. The museum also collaborates with artists, institutions and partners, bringing art beyond its own premises and into public space. In this way, new encounters and perspectives emerge between art, artists and audiences.
