Scenic hike from Kronplatz via Stefansdorf to Reischach, featuring stunning views and varied meadow and forest trails.
This varied hike leads from the summit of Kronplatz down to Stefansdorf and further on to Reischach. Starting at 2,275 metres above sea level, the route offers magnificent mountain panoramas before continuing through meadows and forests along trails no. 8, 4 and 7. Although technically easy, the hike requires good stamina due to its length and rewards hikers with beautiful scenery and peaceful natural surroundings.
Start early and enjoy the panoramic views from the summit of Kronplatz. A visit to the Concordia 2000 Peace Bell or the LUMEN Museum is highly recommended.
Safety guidelines
The trail is technically easy, but its length and long descent require good physical condition. Forest and meadow sections may become slippery in wet conditions. Always check the weather forecast before setting out.
Directions
From Riscone-Reischach, take the cable car to the top of Mount Kronplatz and start your hike on the peak: Head west on a narrow, steep path (no. 8) through the meadows until you get to a forest on a ridge. Follow the even trail along the ridge and continue downhill all the way to a clearing in the woods from which you can see the Haidenberg mountain inn. From there, take the ample forest road back down into the valley. Just before reaching the first farms of Santo Stefano-Stefansdorf, follow the signs to Riscone-Reischach past the Weliserhof farmstead and a number of meadows and fields. The trail will take you back to the valley station in Riscone-Reischach.

How to get there
The Kronplatz cable car valley station in Riscone-Reischach can be reached by public transport (Citybus shuttle) or by car from Brunico-Bruneck.
Where to park
Parking is available at the Kronplatz valley station in Reischach. From there, the cable car provides easy access to the summit, where the hike begins.
Sturdy hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, sun protection and sufficient drinking water are recommended. A lightweight rain jacket is advisable for changing mountain weather.
