Following the success of Arlecchino muto per spavento, Stivalaccio Teatro turns to another legendary figure of the Commedia dell’Arte: Scaramuccia. The production offers a lively reinterpretation of the genre, combining mistaken identities, duels, songs and improvisation.

Set in 1645 between Venice and Crete, on the eve of the fifth Venetian–Ottoman War, the story follows Scaramuccia after he kills Don Alonso in a confrontation. Together with his servant Arlecchino, he flees to Crete, pursued by Flavia, who is determined to avenge Don Alonso’s death. Against the backdrop of a Mediterranean shaped by cultural exchange and conflict, the play unfolds as a story of love, jealousy, power and war. True to the tradition of Commedia dell’Arte, it blends seriousness and comedy, historical reality and fiction.
