The Sambock/Monte Sommo is the mountain of Pfalzen/Falzes and represents one of the most beautiful points of panoramic views in the whole holiday region Kronplatz/Plan de Corones.
The trail starts from Plata/Platten above Falzes/Pfalzen. From the car parking, follow the sign 66A and the indication "Sambock", partly on trails and forest path, sometimes quite steep, sometimes slightly ascending. It continues through the forest and passes a hunters' hut, afterwards up on mountain pastures to the flat summit "Platte" (2175 m). Continuing northward on the wide grassy ridge, you achieve the summit. Descent in 2 hours on the same way. For experts: following the marking points on the north ridge (Pfunderer Höhenweg/Alta Via di Fundres), some spots are exposed (at one exposed point there is a wire cable), you will reach a dip (2365 m), then turn left towards the small lakes of Plata, the hut "Plattner Alm" and finally get back to the starting point.
How to get there
With the car from Brunico to Falzes and to the small hamlet Platten/Plata (1600 m). Alternative: Take the bus 421 or 422 from the Mobility Center in Brunico to Pfalzen/Falzes (stop Rathaus/Municipio); from here walk on path no. 18 and 19 to Platten/Plata, where the tour starts.
