Bread baking has a long tradition in Uttenheim and throughout South Tyrol. In the past, farmers baked bread only every few months and dried it to make it last longer. But nothing beats the smell of freshly baked bread wafting through the village streets!
If you want to discover what gives the famous “Puschtra Bauern Breatl” its unique flavor, we recommend watching the local farmer’s wife bake it firsthand – during our Bread Festival on August 3rd from 10.00 am. to 5.00 pm.
At the 5 traditional farm ovens, freshly baked bread specialties such as "Puschtra Breatln", "Vinschger Paarl", "Schüttelbrot", and much more will be offered.

At our diverse market stands, you’ll find regional and farm-made products, useful and interesting items related to bread, grain, and cereal products – along with specialties such as herbs, jams, honey, pasta and eggs, woodturning crafts, vegetables, dairy products, sewing supplies and handmade items.
