Pfalzen - Sambock

Easy summit ascent in the north west of the Bruneck basin with splendid views and idyllic spots. Less experienced hikers descend via the ascent trail; the following descent via the Plattner Alp is recommended for foot sure climbers with mountain experience.

Route:
Approach via Pfalzen to the Bergweiler Platten (1586 m; parking available at the “Lechnerhof” inn). From there follow the 66A route markings and the signs for “Sambock” over the pasture and steeply upwards to the forest on the old alpine track that is marked out by boulders, then next continue on the forest road to the Stockpfarrer mountain pasture with its beautiful view of the Dolomites. Continue to the Jägerhütte mountain hut, then via many steps and through a bright Swiss stone pine forest upwards to the treeline and uphill on a narrow track to the top with its many wonderful views, which is known as the “Platte” (2,175 m). Finally, continue along the broad mountain ridge at first almost flat and then somewhat more steeply to the Sambock summit cross (2,396 m). The view is stunning! The Zillertaler Alps, Rieserferner, Dolomites, Adamello and Ortler Groups, Ötztal and Subaier Alps can all be seen.
