From Platten to the earth pyramids
The Earth Pyramids in Platten are located in the top part of the Litschbachgraben to the north east over the Bruneck basin. They are the most significant occurrence of such erosion towers in the entire Puster Valley area. The easy hike is not only interesting in terms of nature, but the landscape too is very worthwhile. From the extensive sloping meadow in Platten there is a sweeping view over the Puster Valley to the Dolomites. Now follow trail no. 16A on the grassland ridge and up to the Nockerhöfen farms, then continue towards Höllerhof as far as the left hand turn of the farm access road. Here at the sign for the “Earth Pyramids” turn right and follow the good trail through a meadow up to the pyramids (approx. 1500 m). - Return route: from the earth pyramids go back to the Höllerhof access road, now follow the marked “Panoramic trail” westwards through a woody valley down to the farm road that crosses it and along this almost level traversing the woody slope north westwards to the Wielenbach beck and back to the starting point.
