With the conclusion of the restoration work at Bruneck Castle in the Puster Valley, the fifth Messner Mountain Museum is opened!
In this museum, Reinhold Messner deals with the final aspect of the conflict between man and the mountains; the heritage of the mountains and the people who have lived in them since time immemorial. Using countless exhibits from everyday life, the museum will show the ways of life of the world's most important mountain cultures.
The aim of this interactively designed project is to become a meeting place for mountain peoples, which will open the doors to understanding other ways of life, and together with guests from the different mountainous regions of the world, will stimulate an exchange of experiences.
By broaching themes that permeate the everyday life of mountain peoples, such as nature, religion, tradition, culture and tourism, commonalities, contrasts and developments can be observed.
