During the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival thousands of singers transform the venues for this event into a colourful sea of costumes.
The festival is taking place for the 15th time, with Olang and Bruneck having first staged it in 2004. The international choir festival takes place from 21st to 24th June 2012. In Bruneck the concerts will take place in the Ragen House, Bruneck Castle, the Rathausplat7 and the Parish Church. Choirs will also appear on the summit of the Kronplatz.
Great things grow out of small ideas. In the Upper Puster Valley we have never been bothered about fashionable, short-lived trends and instead have looked to our own natural landscape and identity. The range of cultural activities on offer has therefore remained authentic, and this is our recipe for success. At the Alta Pusteria International Choir Festival it’s all about the music every summer, with 90 choirs presenting folk and mountain climbing songs, spirituals and operatic arias from 24th to 28th June in a number of locations around the Upper Puster Valley.
Entry is free, and there are up to 70 concerts for the public to enjoy in arts centres, churches, castles, mountain huts or outdoors against the backdrop of fabulous scenery. Lovers of every musical genre are sure to find a concert to interest them in the villages of Sexten, Innichen, Toblach, Niederdorf, Prags, Welsberg, Rasen, Antholz, Olang or Bruneck, or in nearby Sillian in Austria.
