Bruneck, a lovely town set between the
Alps and the Dolomites, is an ideal base for a great variety of walks and
hikes presenting different levels of difficulty. |

Reischach - Haidenberg - Reischach: |
900 m of altitude in all, walking time: approx. 3 hours 1/2, marking: 5b - blue / white, 4, 12: Starting from the Kronplatz valley station in Reischach, you pass the marking 4 – 12 (blue-white) on your left and you go on slightly upwards. At the Korerhof and the Oberwelliserhof you reach the Haidenberger Straße (4 + 12), which leads directly to the restaurant Gasthof Haidenberg. You have the possibility to choose between a marked climbing path (steep!) and a forest path. (Gasthof Haidenberg is the ideal stop for a break!). The way back on the forest path leads at first to a junction (marking 5b – blue/white). Further on you directly reach the village Stefansdorf by walking on a forest path. On the sidewalk along the road you return to the starting point Reischach. |
| Platten - Earthpyramids: | |
200 m of altitude in all, walking time: 1 hour, the starting point is Oberwielenbach - Platten. Just before the Platten-hamlet on the right handside there is a big car-park. On the left handside a marked path through the forest leads to the impressive earthpyramids (1,150 m). After having visited the earthpyramids you turn back on the same path to Oberwielenbach. |

Kronplatz-hike: |
1,700 m or 2,275 m (to the peak) of altitude, walking time: approx. 2 hours, route up to the Mittelstation, route up to the Kronplatz-peak – approx. 4 hours in all, marking: n° 1, 8, 12. At first a road leads from the starting point Reischach to the car-park Herrnegg. There the route up begins on the so-called “toboggan-run“ (path with marking n° 1) and leads to the alpine hut Bergfreundehütte. There you’ll find a connection-road to the Mittelstation of the circular road (forest path). After having reached that point, you have the possibility to return back on the circular road to Reischach (only in July and August) or to descend on the panoramic path (marking 8 and 12) passing the restaurant Haidenberg and Stefansdorf back to Reischach. A route up to the Kronplatz-peak (starting from the Bergfreundehütte on the marking n° 1) with a marvellous panoramic view is obviously recommendable for walkers who are in good shape. |
