Bruneck town museum

The Bruneck town Museum was opened in 1995 in the restored and converted post stables in which horses were fed and post coaches were kept at the ready for travellers in past centuries. The permanent exhibition of late. Gothic works by Michael Pacher, his assistant Friedrich Pacher and his students Simon and Veit von Taisten are on the ground floor next to the entrance hall.

The temporary exhibitions are on the first floor; the archives, graphic arts gallery and office are on the second floor.

In addition, there is a workshop for artists complete with the necessary equipment for rotogravure, flat - bed printing (etching, lithography, wood engraving) and serigraphy.

Among other things the museum contains 7,500 bookplates. The main emphasis is on collecting, presenting, and dealing scientifically with regional as well as international graphic art dating from the 20 th century. In addition, the museum hosts various cultural activities such as writers reading from their works, seminars, performances, etc.
